Obituary for the NISJA children: NISJA Children - Three Children Burn. A horrible tragedy occurred at Gilman Wednesday morning in which three little children were burned to death. Mrs. Ruth NISJA had gone to the post office for the mail and when she returned she found her house on fire, in which were the three little children. For some reason she was unable to get into the house to rescue the little ones. The children were aged 8 months, two years and three and one-half years. In trying to get into the house the mother cut herself severely and was taken to the Salida hospital. Mrs. NISJA was formerly Miss Ruth GOODSON and about five years ago taught in the Eagle school. We were unable to get further particulars of the tragedy.[28 Aug. 1914, Eagle Valley Enterprise, p1]
